Procedures in Painting My Portraits
I treat each portrait as a close collaboration with my clients. I prefer to paint my subjects in their own surroundings and will come to their home or office.
I use the first couple of meetings to get to know my clients and discuss with them their personal views and desires for the portrait; the size of the painting, the type of background and/or the color of the background and the formality of the clothing to be worn.
Our second meeting is used for photographing various poses and compositions. Our third meeting is a review of the photographed pose, the likeness of the subjects and the composition. The portrait usually takes anywhere from three to eight months depending upon the size, type of background and number of subjects in the portrait and the complexity of the composition.
My entire goal, from start to finish, is to achieve 100% client satisfaction with the final portrait.
